SuperSport United FC & Umbro Announce Partnership

July 2019:

Umbro and SuperSport United FC have confirmed a long-term agreement that will see Matsatsantsa donning the iconic double diamond logo as the global sportswear company becomes the club’s official technical partner until 2024.

For the next five years, the internationally renowned football brand will produce all official SuperSport United FC playing kits, training products and leisurewear.

“This partnership is really exciting news for Umbro and we’re proud to sign a deal with the club for the next five seasons,” says Umbro’s Donovan Bell.

“SuperSport United have been at the summit of South African football for many years and we hope that success continues and culminates in another PSL trophy.

"SuperSport United’s CEO Stanley Matthews said: “ This is a big season of change and dynamism for our club as we launch a new sponsorship cycle across our first team Jersey, academy sponsors and our technical partners. The launching pad for all 3 sponsorships is a world class kit sponsor and in Umbro we have a truly global brand partner with a powerful African pedigree.

We are fortunate that we have worked with Umbro before in the early 2000’s, having won the SAA with them in 2004 and the Absa Cup in 2005. We know the reliability and consistency of the Umbro brand and the people that drive it. When you match that with the latest innovation, cutting edge designs and unique style and quality features, then we are confident that our players are going to love playing in Umbro and our fans are going to love wearing it.

"For a relatively young club of 25 years standing Matsatsantsa have amassed a healthy trophy haul including 3 PSL titles, 5 Nedbank Cups, 1 Telkom Knockout and 2 Top 8 titles.

As one of the most successful South African football teams with a quarter-century of excellence behind them, SuperSport United are a mighty addition to Umbro’s roster.

SuperSport United’s new Umbro replica kits for the 2019-20 PSL campaign will be launched in the coming months.
